MRI Technician
Definition: MRI ( Magnetic resonance imaging ) Technician operates the MRI to display body images for diagnosis.
The first MRI device was developed in the 1970s. It wasn’t until the 1980s that it was approved for public use. During this time, the profession of an MRI technician and the adjacent MRI technologist profession emerged in the medical field.
How do I get there?
To become an MRI Technician, you must ( typically):
Obtain an associate’s degree in radiologic technology or a closely related field
Specialized MRI education
Hands-on lab training
Possible clinical hours/experience
Certification from a credited organization such as the Amercian Registry of Rediologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registy of Magnetic Resonace Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT ).

MRI technicians play a vital role in the diagnosis of a patient.
Some of the responsibilities of an MRI Tech include:
Operate the high-field strength magnets and related equipment to produce images of target body parts.
Inform patients on producers of the MRI
Position the patients for the MRI scans for optimal imaging and patient safety.
Assist radiologist
Aid in scheduling patients for scans
Maintain MRI scanners and address problems with the equipment to assume optimal function.
Assist physicians in diagnosing
Maintain patient records
